Taken directly from Wikipedia (so don't accuse me of plagiarism): The Lacrimosa is a section of the Requiem mass. While the Lacrimosa is traditionally considered to be part of the Dies Irae hymn, the Requiem composers often create a separate movement in the mass for it.
