I had an SFC who was stop-lossed 3 times when he tried to retire. We worked at Fort Lewis prison together, and he just stopped giving a shit. Great idea keeping disgruntled people working in prisons and battlefields. Worked out well in VietNam, right?

For most people that join this IVAW, Iraq and Afghanistan are the first time they see blood and death and dead bodies. Most are too soft and thought they could handle it but obviously can't. They not agaisnt the war. They're just scared. The first thing out of this guys mouth is about mortars. He wants to sit in his bed and be safe. Should have thought about that before he signed. Probably just signed for the college money.

He's a damn idiot that's all. If you don't read a contract where you're gonna sign your name, whether it be a mortgage, a lease for a car, then you're an idiot.

8 years. EVERY contract is years. Like he said "Clear cut". I already knew about it when I signed because I've been around the military my whole life. When I was in the Recruiting office, I heard it being talked about by recruiters so I don't know what they're talking about. It was actually one of the first things they talked about.

Although I am out of the Army and IVAW, I am still against the war and Stop-Loss. While I felt the policy of Stop-Loss was wrong, I still deployed and did my job.

I am home now and out of the Army with a honorably discharge.

If you have a problem with fufilling the obligations of the contract you did not read properly which say you will serve 8 years no matter what your initial enlistment is, who fault is that really? The army is doing nothing you didnt already say was alright by putting your little John Hancock multiple times on your enlistment paper work. Also out of four years in the military youve been deployed once? Lucky compared to most, I would know, your patrolling in the sector we gave you.
