The more the "West" isolates "Myanmar" (= Burma), the more it becomes "Miandian", a chinese protectorate. China (that includes Singapore & Hongkong) wants to become a global superpower. They are buliding a gas pipeline and naval faclities in Burma (string of pearls) The use their veto power in UNSC and they supply most of the weapons to the military junta. A Nobel peace price for ASSK and T-shirts by U2 are purely symbolic gestures. Guns and Money stil rule the word.

I do have a suggestion how the rest of the world can put some pressure on the regime:
The burmese generals and their business cronies (like Tayza) do have bank accounts in Singapore (probably also in Hongkong and perhaps even Dubai). Well money does talk!
