Kentucky group. Record released in 1953. The Davis Sisters were not really sisters but were high school friends that formed a singing duo. The original group consisted of Betty Jack Davis (died in an auto accident in 1953) and Mary Frances Penick (Skeeter Davis). Betty Jack Davis was replaced by her sister Georgie Davis after her death.
@Gilstrap2009 no problem, versions bring out the worst in people but my own taste may have been tainted by my adoration of costello and waits, (secretly know it aint a great version)

@dogsbolls Wow! Based on your recommendation I sought out the Tom Waits/Costello version. I nearly lost my just completed meal! Serious? I am not one to think only the original is good enough but that was a total hack job. Those two should have their tongues removed for such a violation of good music. Perhaps they have already had them removed and that would explain a lot!
