One of Moscow's most ambitious energy projects for the XX Century is revived. Bulgaria is to press ahead with building a second nuclear power station on the River Danube. Opponents say the station isn't needed, lies in an earthquake zone and its Soviet-style reactors aren't tried and tested.
Building of the plant in the town of Belene was started, then abandoned in the 1980s. Now the EU has given its go-ahead for work to start again.

They're going to build it with or without the consentment of enviromentalists, the UK, the EU. Face the reality - there's a power crisis on the way and building this nuclear plant will offer to Bulgaria good geopolitical opportunities. And about the Russians - they just do it much cheeper.
