http://www.localtvmatters.ca $300 million a year for American TV None of the money you pay goes to local Canadian TV. Cable companies pad their bottom line. Cable threatens to charge you twice. Regulate basic rates. Make cable companies pay their fair share. Hometown TV may be soon be a thing of the past... localtvmatters.ca

  • Rogers = CityTV

    Shaw = GlobalTV

    CTV = Bell , oh sorry, they use to own them. :P

    CBC = Telus , lol

    As you can see the tv and cable companies are either ripping themselves off or ripping you off.

  • Shaw Cable now has 80% control of Global TV.

  • Did you know that the C.B.C. gets $1,200,000,000.00 of our tax dollars every year. This Corporate Money Pit needs to be "Privatized".

    Wheres all the Canadian Shows?

    Buying shows in U.S. funds isn't cheap.

    Sure Mr. Canadian TV Station, your so, against cross border shopping.

  • You have no sources to back that up. I'll use Global BC as an example. They could choose to not air their telethons for the BC Children's Hospital or Variety, and make money of their programming, but instead they devote time and money to helping them.

    If they cared about the bottom line, they would not be running newscasts nor would they be helping charities.

  • Of course it matters. If a station is independently owned and operated then they might actually care about their community. All Global and CTV care about is their bottom lines. I'm sure CTV would love to have only two feeds: east and west and forget about the rest of Canada.

  • Does it matter if CTV or Global owns the stations? They are still providing local news to those who want to watch it.

  • And I support independent stations not those owned by CTV or Canwest

  • You've posted a video about CHEK being saved. There are independent stations that are a part of save local, CHEK is one of them.

  • American programming and speciality channels make money. Research before posting.
