Good oil pressure, up to 75 lbs hot at 3000 rpm, down to 30 psi at 900 rpm.

Good oil pressure, but the bearings were in quite poor condition when I took the engine apart - pieces were flaked off and there was severe pitting in the rod bearings. They were also discolored as though it had been overheated (which may have caused the cracked block).

Took it apart, found a cracked block. Previous owner had filled the cooling system with block and radiator sealer. One was a brown goop and I also found silver seal flakes in the water jackets.

As of November 2011 it now has a rebuilt engine using a different block that was bored .020" and checked for cracks, etc. along with a brand-new head and all associated parts.

  • Cracked block - that's why it didn't boil over until it was revved up - not enough pressure being created until higher RPMs and under a load... Complete rebuilt shortblock, new oil pump, and new head are on the way.
