Just a quick demo of my Google Nexus One phone running a MoDaCo Desire Ported Rom v21.

All items are working except fm radio, however battery drain seems faster with alpha rom and also bluetooth connectivity is a bit weird/unstable at times. I did use the online kitchen to custom bake my current and very stable rom (htc messaging defaults, no dock app, no amazon, did radio update after rom).

Get the roms over at http://www.modaco.com (online kitchen requires ad-free membership though, well worth the $9.99/yr imo)

  • hello,

How about FM radio application, does it work on N1?

  • @darklyer Not yet.

I believe this will be fixed/working once the HTC Desire kernel is released and guess what.

IT WAS RELEASED TODAY! so we should see a very polished Desire Port very soon. Paul at modaco is the man!

  • Oh. In your video it shows the 3g signal. Mine is either H or E

  • @sanibar1 mine goes from 3G to H (H = hspda speeds, the faster 3G bands).

E = edge, so you may be in a spotty coverage area for 3G/HSPDA. or so it may seem.

  • I'm using a baked 21 Rom as well. In my status bar I have a H instead of a 3g. And my signal strength go up and down. Could it be because I didn't add the other radio to my bake? Other then what I'm asking the Rom works fine.

  • @sanibar1 i think this is normal w/the current r21 version of the rom. remember, this rom is still alpha. alpha is before beta testing and beta roms are usually even more unstable than the current modaco desire port. battery life and signal should get better once the kernel is released by htc (hopefully soon!) and more bugs will get wiped out. i tried a different radio but still have same prob as you but speeds are still good, 1000kbps to 1800kbps on tmobile.

  • It's me or does it sounds like an helicopter on the background? xDDD

    Great MOD integration though.

  • Oh ok that must be the case then. Thanks for the response.

basically by unlocking the bootloader (required to do any root or custom roms) and then flashing a new firmware, it voids your warranty. however not sure if google/htc are strict about enforcing it for hardware failures. you can flash back to factory rom at any point.

no, updates will prob not work since its a custom hacked rom for a device that it wasn't intended for. the rom itself will be updated when the ota is pushed to normal devices. hope that helps!

  • @Thezombiekiller2012

yea, sorry about that noise, i really need to upgrade away from my crappy kodak

as for consequences of rooting; may void warranty. you will have to root, backup device, flash w/custom desire rom, tweak. its only alpha build so still bugs, battery drain (about a day on a charge).
