  • Can you support your claim that when one dies they pass into eternal life immediately? You didn't show any evidence of that.

  • I never made that claim. It would be an ignorant assumption that one would die and go directly to heaven no matter what. Sorry, listen again. Thanks

    GOD BLESS

  • i never said heaven, did i? i said eternal life. can you support your understanding that the soul is immortal? peace.

  • Absolutely, the mere usage of the Greek term of eternal presupposes that the soul continues living whether in eternal damnation or eternal bliss in heaven. Thanks.

  • I thought only God was immortal and eternal life was a gift of God. There is a continuity with the Old Testament and New Testament where the soul is not immortal. Can you show biblically the contrary? thanks.

  • As a being only GOD is immortal and never changing, that is a fact. But this does not negate the reality of an immortal soul, you are the one who has the burden of proof to show otherwise, present your Scripture.

I think I am going to be sick. I pray that the Catholic Church amends its policies and rids them and stick to only biblical scripture.

  • Pergatory is a Catholic Church belief. It is not from God. So, I wish you well with that deception. I pray that all of Gods true children leave that church of satan called Catholic Church.

John Chrysostom, Ambrose of Milan, Jerome, and Augustine.

  • we are all eternal spirits, this is true. But be careful when you use words like "life" and "living." If you are eternally damned...that ain't living. That is death in the fullest!

  • I think that jt7887 is stating the belief that the dead (including Mary and all the Saints) are 'asleep' until the second coming. When Jesus said on the Cross that the Good Thief would be seen by Him in Paradise "this day" ought to be enough to counter that belief but apparently it is not - some protestants have said that He meant on some Friday in the future! And others that He meant I am SAYING this on THIS day but that is not when I will see you in Paradise! (Yes - some people believe this.

  • 1 Timothy 6:15-16 - God alone immortal

2 Timothy 1:10 - Immortality is gift of God through gospel

Also Genesis 2 and Revelation 22 along with Genesis 3:22-24 show that human beings will naturally die without continued access to God's life-giving power(Tree of Life). The immortal soul was a greek philosophy(plato)popular during early chirsitan history rather than a biblical concept. The ancient hebrew view maintains a mortal soul along with the NT.Theres more verses like John 3:16 but here you go.
