  • I think the people from AtariAge did this homebrew version. They did some pretty damn good homebrews for Atari 2600 and 7800.

  • Pac-Man symbolizes drug addiction... Either pills or lines... LOL!!!

  • I kinda like the 2600 pacman death sound boing boing boing blink.

  • @THEsquirrel3d

As for the crash, I remember Revco and other stores selling Atari 2600 games for $3.99-a lot of them were crappy from the get go-at least I only risked $3.99 a game instead of $30. I also recall copies of E.T and Raiders Of The Lost Ark going for $1 on the clearance shelves at some stores in the mid-1980's. And used video game cartridges could be found at pretty much any thrift shop until the mid-2000's. By then, Atari stuff started becoming collector's items.

  • I used to own a 2600, and had both Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man. The original 2600 Pac-Man had its faults, but was still a good game in its own right-a different take on Pac-Man. The 2600 Ms. Pac-Man was an improvement-more true to the arcade game. Atari continued on for several more years after the original Nintendo came out, and the 5200 and 7800 versions of Pac-Man were more true to the arcade games as well. I currently own two different Pac-Man plug-in games, both which are like the original.

  • @THEsquirrel3d Yeah that was the reason, anyone who ties Pacman to the crash is being silly since Pacman for the 2600 was released in 1981 and the crash happened in the 4th quarter of 1983. E.T. didn't cause it either. Pacman and E.T. were only 2 games. The crash is like you said, over saturation of consoles and everyone making poor video games due to a lack of quality control. I mean even cereal companies and dog food companies were making video games.

  • Yes, this is MUCH more truer to the original. Shows that it could have been done properly.

A decent maze and a 'rotating' Pac sprite. What Atari released was appalling. I hated it even as a nipper.

  • @WildManChrisVEVO This is a hack of Ms. and there is a HUGE difference between Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man, fool!

  • It's amazing how Atari completely dropped the ball on the game, but still managed sales records.

  • I remember the day it came out (the original pacman on Atari) A part of me was like... oh well, it's the best the machine can do. But when Ms. PacMan came out and saw how much better it was, I had my first glimpse into the idea that a game could be rushed and come out crappy.
