@K50B hmm idk....the thing is the williams sisters didnt really ARRIVE yet...2000 was when they really started to take off,even though serena got a slam in 99...i mean venus was still pretty wet behind the ears, and it showed...im not even going to bother with intertemporal comparisons because it's really pointless...tennis is a game of personal matchups...but obviously graf is a tremendous player

Some people think that in 1999 graf retired because she scared of next strong generations such as Williams, Davenport,.... So stupid! Graf absolutely can defeat all of them, this match is a very clear example: Don't say that Venus was still young in 1999. Everyone should remember that she used to play in US open final 1997, she had THREE YEARS from 1997 to 1999 to mature, Graf also defeated 3rd seed Daveport in FO 1999. She retired just because she found no inspiration from tennis!

My goodness to play this kind of tennis at 30 is truly incredible. Steffi did a great job of dealing with Venus' power I don't think anyone other than Serena has done that to Venus. Graf could have won more slams if she kept motivated after Wimbledon
