The Great Raid is a 2005 war film about the Raid at Cabanatuan, adapted from William B. Breuer's book of the same name. It tells the story of the January 1945 liberation of the Cabanatuan Prison Camp on the Philippine island of Luzon during World War II. It is directed by John Dahl and stars Benjamin Bratt, Joseph Fiennes, James Franco, Connie Nielsen and Cesar Montano. In the United States, it is rated R for strong war violence and brief language. The principal photography took place from July 4, to November 6, 2002, but its release was delayed several times from the original target of fall 2003.

  • @NamVetBuck Haven't you ever heard that two hands in action can accomplish more than a million clasped in prayer. You can believe whatever you want to, we all have that right, but when my life depends on the Marine next to me doing his job he had better have his eyes on his surroundings, his mind on the task at hand, and his hands on his rifle. While a believer may feel the need to ask god for strength, an atheist has got nothing better to do than watch my back.

  • @Snipe4261 In my time in the Corps the opposite was true...I would far rather have a believer with me , knowing that God was with us, and gave us strength to accomplish the mission.

  • If he doesn't' like atheists then he can go burn in his imaginary hell for all I care. :P

Something that I learned form my time in the Marine Corps is that when the bullets are flying I would much rather have an atheist in my foxhole with me than a believer because the believer would be praying to god while the atheist would be returning fire.

  • @level242 The Pacific :) Sgt "Manila John" Basilone
