  • Obvious to most but you should probably remind people to shut off the computer and unplug it first.

  • This is the perfect learning PC. When you bend a CPU pin or break something else, you're only out a Dell. Then you can build a real computer. Do not, i repeat, do not use anything left over from this machine. Unless you need to copy something from your old hard drive to your new one.

  • i hve a dell 2350 but no heatsink or clips or fan? but i need these to upgrade to a new software and anything any advice?

  • Those levers would be called retention clips. :)

  • 1. Take a claw hammer and point the claw at the heatsink

    2. put the claw part of the hammer and insert it under the heatsink

    3. get mad because now you just ripped your heatsink off a crappy Dell motherboard!

    4. Destroy...

  • @urb4ninj4 No, you will not be able too.

  • i dont understand why when did it,the cpu comes with the heatsink...i mean when i remove the heatsink, the cpu stiks under the heatsink,is that normal?

  • Please please respond me :D I have a dell optiplex GX 280 like yours :D and I want to put it a dual core CPU or a quad core i asked a few more ppl and they said I can't upgrade to quad but I want to know if I can upgrade to dual core :D

  • Thank you very much! I thumbs upped and subbed

  • @ehrinmeijer Very slowly and gently :) If your REALLY careful, you can pry the two apart since the top of the cpu is pretty well protected and the heatsink is just a hunk of metal with a plastic fan and some wiring. I also suggest cleaning both the cpu and heatsink because the thermal paste must have been put on too thick (Common but potentially harmful mistake)

  • I just removed a Dell 9y212 heatsink from a Dell Dimension 8300, and the processor is stuck to it (heatsink). Any ideas on how i can separate the two without damaging either?
