Christmas is long gone and spring is still quite a ways away. It's the dead of winter, and there just isn't anything going on right now. But I still managed to find somethings to vlog about:
Southern Tier Oak Aged Pumking on tap
Moving my homebrew reviews to this channel
When I'll homebrew again
Sticking to my boycott of Beer Advocate
Wondering what's up with Six Point Bengali Tiger videos
Football picks

  • I'm a big fan of the number ratings that beeradvocate started. I think that it makes more sense to say that a beer rates better than 95% of other beers. I think it accounts for more whether people are stingy with their ratings or not. An "A" doesn't really mean a lot if you give every beer an "A" - For example, I've heard you make fun of other beer reviewers for handing out lots of positive ratings. Thoughts?

  • @AgileHProductions Percentiles imply there's an objectivity to beer - there isn't. Beer nerds tend to rate imperial stouts and IPAs the highest so then there becomes a hierarchy of styles. For example, the left hand IPA I just reviewed scored 94 overall but only 48 for the style - that means it's a below-average example of the style but that style itself is at the top of the pyramid of beer in general. I say just go by the average rating - that's more mathematically accurate.

  • Chad had an email from Sixpoint saying that they did infact send the email of my link to thousands of people, cheers.

  • @realaleguide I figured it was something like that. I'm surprised I'm not on their mailing list, though?

  • Does 120 Minute last that long there? It would be gone in hours here.

You could brew a beer using a hybrid yeast in that kind of temperature easily. Ideally a lager would ferment in that temperature but then you'd want to drop it down to a colder temperature for the lagering period.

  • @StumpyJoeJr I'd like to homebrew an imperial pilsner (which is essentially an IPA). But I dont think there's any kits at my homebrew store for that and I dont know enough how to do it myself yet. Anyone got a link to an idiot-proof recipe?

  • You should do game reviews. Specifically Bethesda Softworks franchises:)

  • @ZomBeneath Nope... just a great way to be a skinny, unhealthy drunk.

  • @Chad9976 I don't have one. Never brewed a lager myself but I want to do that at some point. Just get some light pilsner extract, add a touch of Carapils for steeping and whatever hops you'd like.

  • 120 min on tap?! I wish I could be there. We'll see how many views I get off that six point beer.. that is quite weird. I dont get as many views as both simon or imasofat but anywhere near a thousand will be very odd.. oh and go pats go!! NE SF final :) NE wins lol.
