Been watching a lot of old John Wayne films and here are some of my favorite moments, from The Big Trail to Stagecoach. I salute The Duke.

Thanks for watching!

  • Wonderful video ! The music at first sounds too modern, but after a second listening , it is appropriate. Thank you for making it !

  • @lamarchesado This is a bit late, but thanks.

  • I think the original theme for "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," not the Gene Pitney version but the actual theme at the beginning of the movie, would be the perfect soundtrack for this.

  • @Impowers I may end up doing another Wayne one for a later decade and will try and remember to use that song.

  • I love the videos, but I wish you wouldn't have put this music to it, and rather just played the original audio to them.

  • @wilsondylanmccartney While they have their charm in the original form, I thought I'd spice up this "compilation" with a semi-related tune. Artistic license. Sorry you didn't care for it.

  • Just saw the 1930 widescreen version of "The Big Trail" projected on the huge screen at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan a couple of weeks ago and there's nothing else quite so overwhelming. So realistic it's like time traveling, and stands alongside "The Searchers" and "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" as one of Wayne's three greatest performances. Great line-up of clips, proving that Charlton Heston in "Secret of the Incas" wasn't the original Indiana Jones, it was John Wayne.

  • @TheFrontrowkid It's a pretty sweet stunt.

  • Many of these clips came from Wayne's Lone Star-Monogram westerns and serials olf the Thirties. The one shop of him carrying the girl across the open field, pursued by a bi-plane is from the 1933 Mascot serial "Shadow of the Eagle." The stunt where he transfers from the horse onto the wagon and falls underneath the horses is of course done by Yakima Canutt, who originated the "gag."

  • @chrisnouvelle41 Thank you.
