Man Rides Wild Giant Stingray

A scuba diver rides a wild giant stingray (Manta) off the Florida coast in this vintage 1994 TV ad produced by Miami Entertainment Corp. The Atlantic ocean location is kept secret by a small number of Florida divers. They don't want animal molesting sensationalists coming there and ruining the friendly relationship between the local divers and the giant stingrays. The rider is definitely not Steve Irwin. The advertiser, Tropical Fish Pond, sells exotic pets from the 4 corners of the world. The store is located in Royal Oak Michigan, on Woodward Ave., 14 miles north of Downtown Detroit. No animals were harmed in the making of this ad and the store carries only legal unendangered animals and fish.

Yes you a right. Most people who would do that are jerks. That's why the local divers keep the location a secret. This giant manta slowed way down so the rider could mount. He was having fun with an old friend. There is much more footage that shows this. Mantas also slow down for "cleaner fish" to attach and eat the parasites off them. All rays are in the same Order and according to Wikipedia, most people commonly don't differentiate rays by family. They just refer to all rays as Stingrays.

@arkdist yeah its said that manta/sting-rays are as smart if not almost as smart as a dolphin is and are very, very interactive w/ species especially humans haha oddly enough right? lol but yeah there beautiful creatures hope i at least get to play/meet/ride 1 at 1 point in my life
