This is me surfing in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria with the Surf Hero GoPro camera that can be bought from http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=7 . It attaches using a stick on baseplate and it is waterproof to 30m. It uses lithium AAA batteries and a 2GB card. The fish eye lens allows for a 170° view from your board. The camera can film 56 minuites of TV quality video with sound or 1945 photos on photo every 2 seconds mode; gopro will make 4GB available soon so those figures will be doubled. I highly recomend this camera to any surfer because its great :-]

  • Hi Hfrimanhfriman, as I can see, you have been to the Canary Islands, did you like it? How long have you been on the Canaries? Do you plan to go on vacation again, here on the Canaries? We have a lot of videos of our hotels and from the Canary Islands, it would be nice if you take a look at our videos on You Tube :). Greetings

  • Hi,

Yeah it was great, I went for a holiday and I go quite a lot. Really nice videos of gran canaria and of the maspalomas dunes especially as I think they look great! :D

  • i really enjoyed watching your vid. The cam stills are quite artistic, really nice.

Now i wanna learn to surf^^

  • Thanks :-]

The stills were mostly fluke when i did the photo every 2 seconds so most of them were rubbish but I included the intresting ones. I would recommend anyone to learn to surf because its the best thing I ever did!

  • great video kid. Be smart and put a float on your camera. The baseplate can be knocked off!

    Trust me, i know!!!

  • Thanks!

I stuck the triangle piece on just in case the baseplate is knocked off and I hope that should be enough because it isnt usually very big waves.

It must be awful to lose the camera but I havent yet in 7 sessions with the camera!

  • @lukaj1n PD: There are a few surfschools, Prosurf and Surfing Gran Canaria.

  • @qLukaSq Well, It depends on your vacation time. If u come in winter time then Faro usually booms, normal days can be 1.30m to 1.70m, good days from 2m to 2.6 and very good days everything that goes beyond, this winter we had some decent swell coming in, like 3m to 4m; And Its no reef, its just stones. Anyway, summertime is approaching and south of the island is known for Playa del Inglés as a good surfspot, although last year it wasnt really but we had a good winter so i expect it to be good!

  • @lukaj1n I was surfing att Bali - Legian beach - its a typical sand break and the wave is just breakin (no side break). How big waves are there ? This is reef right ?

Are there some surf schools near there ? :)

  • @qLukaSq Hey Im a local from here and the right side of faro (senador) is a quite easy wave compared to the left side but it still has its complications, it isnt the best place to start but if u r intermediate then go for it; as for boards, very hard to rent.. unless u trace any surfschool and ask them I aint got tips for u..

  • Hi Hfrimanhfriman !

Im planning my vacation, and I think i will go to maspalmoas. Im not very good surfer - intermediate and im wondering about surf conditions in maspalmoas (Next to IFA FARO hotel i guess), Can You tell me something about it ? Is it possible to rent a long board there ? Big thanks ! Cheers !
