What is justice? How do you define it? Social and individual justice

The American justice system, as is the case with most other judicial systems in other countries traces it's roots back to the Magna Carta, when for the first time the absolute authority of monarchs were challenged. The idea is VERY simple. If the King, Queen or the Govt wants to convict you of a crime, then they must first go through a neutral judge or an impartial jury of your peers. Then and only then can they put you away.
The duty of proving your guilt, falls directly on the govt. So it is not the system that failed but the govt and the prosecution.
But was it justice?
What is justice? How do you define it? As you sit there, as we live and breathe, what is just and unjust? And how do you serve justice?
There are two forms of justice -- Social justice, and individual justice.
The idea of social justice stems from social contract theory, which was first proposed by Socrates. Social contract theory is by what theoretically, we are all bound by. It is the idea that this society is formed by means of all us entering into a social contract. If you have ever read the Declaration of Independence, there is a phrase in there i.e "the consent of the governed". So in theory, though something that I don't agree with but we all consented to be governed, whichever country and society you live in, you are now bound by it's laws and judicial system whether they were achieved by reason, logic or tradition. I could go on for ever, on "consent of the governed" but I don't think youtube has enough servers for that.
Of course social justice serves many purposes. It restores the so-called social norm, acts as correction or rehabilitation and most importantly it serves to act as a deterrent.
Then there is individual justice, something I believe in, and the only form of justice there is in my opinion. To understand individual justice, one must decide if people do have an innate desire for justice. Is reciprocation natural? If someone hits you in the face, you are in the right to hit them back. Would anyone argue otherwise? But what if it's a woman? Ah see, social customs do corrupt your logic. Plato in his book The Republic, made a compelling argument that individual justice is a virtue. And I tend to agree.
To me individual justice is of the highest order. Society is a fiction just like a corporation. Society does not feel, it doesn't have emotions, it doesn't have goals or ambitions and it cannot be wronged. There is only individuals, each one of us, different and alike, at the same time. Only people have a sense of justice, not society.
I am a big believer in individualism and I despise group mentality.
