Sorry, this video is a bit long, but I wanted to go over as much as I could about it.
Correction: It's not Tomboy in the top bar, it's Gnote, the C++ clone of the original Mono/C# app. Sorry about that.

Thanks for watching!

  • hai, do you know where in the link for me to get fedora 13 dailup driver or installer..

    could any body help...

im new in fedora, thank you.

  • @mguilmot Exactly. Looking back, it's amazing the amount of growth Linux distros have made in just the last few years.

  • @mguilmot Yeah, that's a good point, but the bugs they're waiting to fix, if I understand correctly, are really specific and mostly related to NFS.

  • I've never found the redhat based distro's lightweight. I've used lots of distributions in the past, including Debian and Slackware, and they looked a lot faster, but then again, they're a bit tougher to use (especially 6-7 years ago). When I compare Fedora now comparing with my Mandrake 8.2 years ago, we've come a LONG way. Nowadays everyone should be able to use linux (Fedora or Ubuntu e.g.) without any problems. Except maybe gamers who need a Win box for their games...

  • @thisweekinlinux I don't think it's sad. If you look at their release policies, you should just be happy that they postponed the release. I prefer to have the release a week or two later than having one where you will need to use workarounds to make certain things work :-)

  • @mguilmot Yeah, kinda sad they had to push back again, but it's probably for the best.

I know I used the DVD when I installed my laptop with Fedora, and it was not a problem at all.

"Light weight" is sort of a relative term. Gnome is lightweight compared to KDE, but it's bloated compared to Xfce, Fluxbox, etc.
