OMG!!! I found the newest trailer for the New H.P. Lovecraft movie Cthulhu. It's got Tori Spelling in it! Looks great, can't wait to see the full thing!!
This movie was horrible! Being a gay man, I was thrilled to see a gay protagonist and hoped desperately we wouldn't be dealing with the constant gay angst that comes in most such movies... I WAS WRONG! Daddy issues left and right! The acting was horrible and the writing... while it started with potential, deteriorated like the writer did it in one night and was getting tired toward the middle! This movie doesn't even deserve to be associated with Lovecraft!
Hey guys, no one's going to be able to completely nail a HPL film 100% do you have any idea what would happen if they did? Do we want the deep ones to emerge?
From an HPL Fan. This was an excellent but flawed film. The main Characters Dad was the best Cthulhu cultist ever filmed. The Acting was good to great all around, and that love scene was amazing. Also, the story was better than you think, but it takes some talking with another HPL fan to get it. Example, did any one else notice that the events of the story 'Call of Cthulhu' seemed to have happened shortly before this story started? Too Bad the writer and director made so many mistakes.
i find with movies trying to do lovecraft they always make the mistake of having tonnes of monsters and the main thing about lovecraft is about what you don't see the suggestion now they half got it in this film very little monster action but at the same time very little tension and very little quality of story i was very disapointed with this as i am with most lovecraft adaptations. and why is that bloke painted yellow in it if you look he has fake tan on or something grrrrr
Also, Cthulhu is never mentioned in the film ! A great disappointment. If you want the HPL feeling stick with the stories or some of the older movies. Or even play COC - dark corners of the earth. That game was much faithful to the stories and their eerie atmosphere than any of the movies out there.
This movie was absolute rubbish. Total disrespect for the great writer. Lovecraft must have been turning in his grave. You never get enough info fro what is going on. The movie is VERY loosely based on The Shadow over Innsmouth, but totally ruins it.
