This classic heart shadow from a ring and book is done up in 100% Photoshop CS5 Extended. Part 1 models the objects, combines them into a scene, and adjusts lights to get the effect. Part 2 will show texture and finishing details.

  • how do I make the book path??? sorry, im new at this !

  • @AvEnGe211 The path is made using the Pen tool. Google for it and you'll find TONS of tutorials. It's a simple closed path. Alternatively, you can paint the shape you want to extrude, or even used the Lasso tool to make a selection and fill it.

If you just want to practice extruding shapes, you can use the Shape Tool and find a simple outline. That will create a Vector Mask on a shape layer, which Repousse will recognize.

  • Great tutorial. Best of the best.

  • Great tutorial thanks for sharing, how do you set the rotation point of an object. No matter where I place the object, (even if I place it centre of the red and green lines in grid view) when I try and rotate it the centre pivot point is set behind the object as if the extrusion depth is the same as the width. How do I set it to be dead centre of the object. Thanks

  • Great tutorial thanks for posting Im trying to do a rotating coin animation but no matter where I place my object the centre of rotation is always set behind the object is there anyway to move the rotation point to the centre of the object, so when you use the rotation tool it rotates the object on its base, its really annoying me now Thanks :)

  • cool!! :D

  • Thanks for the help
