  • shrdlu1945 -- "uninformed" is kind. These guys have gone on with life and now are having the times of their lives playing again. They sound great. Back in the day (e.g, when I played in the 1960's) we stove for perfection but never achieved it. Today's corps achieve it. But one cannot judge an alumni corps' performance by today's DCI standards. It's refreshing to hear the cracks and foibles of even the best alumni corps. Ever hear the Cabs alumni actually play a perfect bull call?

  • Amen to that.

  • Is this a real "Alumni Corps" with 100% former Sac players or just another east coast wannabe corps?

I remember Sac from back in the day & they would be ashamed of this performance!

  • It's an alumni corps, although I'm not sure if it is made up completely of former Sac members. As far as the quality of performance,

I knew Sac "back in the day" as well. They were teenagers then, and they're in their 50's and 60's now. Frankly, that considered, I think their performance was very good. Comparing corps 40+ years apart is not exactly reasonable. I'm pretty confident any former member of Sac from "back in the day" would be pretty pleased watching this.

  • I remember hearing SACplay in parades in the early 60's. They were great then and the sound remains the same. You have to give credit to these guys. I marched in a high school band and a base drum corps in the USAF. I'm 65 and have a hard time getting outta bed. I'd probably drop more sticks than I care to count anfd couldn't bend over to pick'um up !!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !!!!

  • I was with the Bayshore Buccaneers in the mid 60s and "Sac" was always what we were trying for. These guys sound really good for 40 years later. Miss those days.

  • Of course this is an alumni corps, and no - it is not 100% original Sac players. People move, people pass on, people no longer are able to march or play for a multitude of reasons. 99% of drum corps players back in those days into the late 70's were guys playing for fun - not to get college credits as music majors with no real interest in what drum corps was as an activity. Drum Corps used to be fun, playing recognizable music for fans who were not just family of players.

  • What an irresponsible and uninformed comment. This is an alumni corps that has been performing since 1991 (16+years.) 75% of the members played with BSGK in the past (Jr. and Sr.)

Sound was probably recorded on some small handheld device...but from the tone of the comment the writer would have minimal concern with that fact.

Not a single indiviual who proudly wears the black and gold...nor from my experience in front of thousands of black and gold fans...is ashamed.
