the hakka dish i know is more in black colour than this one. more steps and complicated where u need red dates,fish and more ingredients than this for the gravy.
nowaday lots of peoples cut off so many steps and ingredients to make it simple.

@yingwingyi Hi, About zongzi, I live in a small city in germany, it is pretty hard to find chinese ingredients. For zongzi, i need wrap in bamboo or reed leaves, I try to look for it. I put in my list already. Thank you.

Hi, isn't this dish's sauce black color? as in black sauce compare with the red bean sauce? Is this an adaptation or original? I remember my mom used to cook this when she was around but doesn't look "reddish" like yours. Hers could be an adaptation. I'm just wondering.

I love this dish and I've missed this hakka family dish. I lived on my own in UK and wish for this dish. I have accidentally found this video. Recently I've visited my local Chinese supermarket and purchased a packet of frozen taro. I now need to watched and follow this step by step instruction video. Thank you.
