On June 16, 2007 the Procession with the Blessed Sacrament took place in Amsterdam for the fourth time. In 2004 this old tradition of processions was taken up again. The occasion then was the 150th anniversary of the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk (Church of Our Lady) in Amsterdam.
Processions have always been held in Amsterdam, since a Eucharistic miracle occurred in 1345. But in 1573, with the 'alteration' of the city government to the protestant faith, processions and other public manifestations of faith were suppressed.
The Eucharistic Year called by Pope John Paul II, the celebration of Corpus Christi, a change of the Constitution, and our church's anniversary were the perfect occasion to restart such sound tradition.

Wow... Maybe the Netherlands are not totally lost after all!

If we truly belived in the real presence of Jesus Christ himself who is the Eucharist, we should receive Holy Communion on the tounge while kneeling. Even the Pope distributes Holy Communion that way now.

@mthw16: widespread it will be some day; for now, I'm satisfied with every single conversion. Eucharistic Adoration does help to bring people back close to God. Please pray for the coming Procession of May 25th!
