From the Ask Dr. Stanley segment of Dr. Stanley's March 14, 2010 sermon "His Promise to Provide."

2 Corinthians 12:7-9 (NASB)

A Thorn in the Flesh

7Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me--to keep me from exalting myself!

8Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me.

9And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness " Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

  • Some people come on here and assume all the ills of this world is God's fault, but don't even bother to get to know Him and His side of the story - because they *do* believe He exists, but they don't want to follow Him.

It's also boring and tedious when they post these same old false accusations (all the same - they all blame God) and never learn. Such future posts will blocked and deleted. Just read my old comments to other false accusers - they will answer such questions.

    Thank you! :o)

  • When I can't find answers from the Bible from anyone else, I can always count on Charles Stanley. He has away of wording things so that it sinks in for me.

  • @buginyourear - I totally agree! Dr. Charles Stanley is one of the very few pastors that I know of who has the ability to teach how to apply the Bible to practical living. All that without the yelling and histrionics that some pastors seem to think makes them effective (but is just really hot air). I love Dr. Charles Stanley!

  • Pretty much what I said in my video, without the sarcasm........actually I really enjoyed the sarcasm.

  • God doesn't give consequences, he gives correction. Pain and suffering correct us and help us to see what we're doing wrong and that we can't waste life following our own desires.

  • @MelodyOfVision Thanks for your time and your answers see you later. Peace!

  • @MelodyOfVision But you say you refer yourself to god not to a book.

  • @34roberees - Ah! Now here is a mysterious thing about reading the Bible! You know everyone reads it, believer and non-believers alike. But why do believers get so much more out of it and understand it better?

    Luke 8:10

He [Jesus] said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, “‘though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.’

His disciples asked God for the meaning - others didn't.

  • @MelodyOfVision I meant you refer yourself to god.
