i checked that out. the first 427r was released in 06 and had the same capacity as the current ones. the 427 has always referred to hp. if you can provide a link etc showing a 427cid engine in the first ones, i'd love to see it. :)

The first 427r did have a 427 in it. Now it is the model # of the car.
