cropping the tail and ears as others mentioned help to protect them when they have to defend their Master. The ears cropped also enable for better focused hearing to detect threats. Dobies were bred to be the best and most loyal guard dog that needs no training to protect it was bred into them and they literally will die protecting their master. With other dogs that is just hyperbole but with dobies it is reality

why do you shout at him... you treat your puppy very hectically. and I wouldn't encourage barking as they are a very vocal breed already...

whats the name?

those are tiny hands for a dobie...

I just lost my dobie to wobblers disease, I had his ears cropped, now we got a puppy, we left his ears uncropped.. I love them both ways, they are just awesome dogs. You have a beautiful puppy.. I dont rememeber Stonewall ever being in any kind of pain when his ears were cropped.

I voted for Obama and I'm not stupid. :(
Kochan u r a fucking idiot. U LOOK IT UP! most of us are experienced breeders. There ARE benefits to cropping and docking u fuckin tree hugger. I bet u voted for Obama u fucktard. Here is an idea...don't ever get a dobie because u obviously have no clue about the breed!

@drummerofthebored I had his ears cropped and the tail was docked on the third day after birth. It wasnt easy with all the retaping and stuff but I didnt do it bc of ear infection. I did it bc dobermans w floppy ears look like a hound. If i weanted that I would buy a german shorthaired pointer or a black and tan

@ILoveConsoles he was like 15 lbs lbs at 12weeks and a HANDFUL, be very weary bc I have owned a CHow and german shepherd and this Doberman was BY FAR the toughest puppy i have ever raised...they require A TON of attention. Thats all he wants is to be moving and learning.
