I graduated from high school in 1995 and went to Cal State Univ. of Northridge where I received my degree in marketing in 2002. The one thing I knew in life is I was very good at sales and wanted to make that my profession. My brother helped me make my transition into the insurance business in 2005 where we opened up our own financial services office. I quickly found out that life insurance wasn't for me and we shut down our business. My brother and I went our separate ways. He became an insurance instructor to help individuals get licensed and I got my property and casualty license and worked for other brokers/ agents learning business insurance.
I landed with an Allstate agent and learned how to become the top commercial auto insurance producer for the company. After one year I realized my potential and what a dead end it was working for another agent so my brother and I opened our own Allstate agency together in 2008. My first year in business for myself my agency became the number commercial auto office in CA.
Everything was great my first year in business, but I started to realize how much money I was leaving on the table by being a captive Allstate agent. I had a big book of construction workers of all trades, but I could only write their commercial trucks. Allstate doesn't write workers comp or general liability insurance so I decided to sell my Allstate agency and go independent. I opened my current brokerage Cal Commercial Insurance in September of 2009. Over the last 6 months I researched all the carriers for my construction clients and now have the best markets for everything including workers comp, general liability, commercial auto insurance, and bonds.
Being a contractors insurance specialist I do extra research on how to favor the rating factors on my clients policies to help my clients save up to 50%!! How you rate a policy determines the premium. This is the service and added value I bring to the construction industry for their business insurance needs.
