Tweed super copy, built in 2002 by Greg Powis, Retrosound, Melbourne. All NOS tubes (including TungSol 5881s), point to point hand wiring, Weber Classic AlNiCo 10" speakers (10A125), gorgeous subtle lacquered tweed. Inside of cab is signed by Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds who played this amp at a festival in 2003 (and loved it!). This is a stellar amp for guitar and harp with a throaty tone like a mini-Bassman.

Aussie voltage.

  • Umm, hello... when you get board of that amp, I'll have it. Thanks!

  • @carolinastringband

LOL. Sold it a few years ago...

  • Great tone man! How loud is this amp cranked compared to your bassman? Can you get the amp to break up without going to loud enough volumes where it shakes the house? I ask because I'm thinking of getting one vs the bassman because its quieter and want to be able too crank it at home aswell.

  • @rwonfor

It's a very loud amp. 35 watts in two tens. Not as loud as a Bassman but if you're in the same room with it cranked - it's DAMN loud. No problem of course if you live on a farm or desert island. If you want an amp that you can crank that gives great tweed break up, why not look at the Clark Beaufort LTD model (a 5E3 with tube swop options) or the Clark Webster (a Harvard clone). Victoria also does a Harvard clone, the Ivy league. 10 watts through a ten. Wish I could afford one...

  • oh shit! Buddy, where did you buy this kit? Gotta have it!

  • @FenderMeddle94

It was built by a company in Australia (Retrosound), using parts sourced from various US companies, I think. They put in NOS 5881s and all the vintage components, but essentially this would be "similar" to a Weber or Collins, but using top grade vintage components. He built the cab himself, it's not a Weber cab or similar.

If you're in the states and you want a 'similar' amp, think Victoria or Clark.

  • Wow. Big call! I'll tell my pal Dave, who played the guitar on this cut.

    ;)

  • Best sounding tweed clip I've heard on Youtube.

  • (And see my other videos for my Clark bassman)

    ;)

  • 10 times?

I'm a Bassman fan, but let's not forget that the Super is a lot easier to hump to gigs. A lot more "back - killing" iron in the Bassman. I agree the bigger cab and four speakers gets you to tone heaven, but the Super is a sweet amp with a Tele.
