  • Sanchez was the only man to really hurt and stop Nelson.

  • out of any fight i would take the great salvador and his cool calm killer instinct, it wuold take a hell of a lucky punch to surprise him and his defense did allow it but as hard as a young nelson hit, he didnt flinch from that either..wow..salvador was amazing in pugilistic, sweet scientific prowess

  • NADIE COMO CHAVA: PODER, ASTUCIA, Y MUCHA INTELIGENCIA: PERO SOBRE TODO MUCHA MUCHA HUMILDAD Y MIS RESPETOS PARA AZUMAH NELSON, AHORA DESAFORTUNADAMENTE EN EL BOXEOS TODO IS ABOUT MONEY.....

  • @86pimp3 Fenech and Leija both hurt Nelson--in fact, Leija put him on the canvas--but you're right, the great Salvador was the only one to put him away. Just goes to show you what Nelson was made of: IRON. He took a terrible beating in this fight and still came back to have a Hall of Fame career.

  • 3:11 hahahaha " hey wrong corner bro "

  • @soccerdog007 You made this comment long ago but I just wanted to say that's a neat story. Thanks for sharing it.

P.S. Roy Jones, Jr. once remarked that Salvador Sanchez was his favorite fighter. And he said it was because Sal's facial expression did not change.

  • @josemezatorrez Polite reply, I appreciate that. In regards to the rematch, Danny wouldn't have taken the fight if he didn't think he could win. Sal had his number though--he made it look easy against Lil' Red. And yeah, I remember Danny entering the ring with his headdress, which, as you mentioned, he promised to Salvador after the fight. Danny was a credit to boxing...as was Salvador. Take care, brother.

  • Whether he was 19 or 21 years old young man going up against a more experienced fighter and heavy handed puncher like then Featherweight Champ Danny Lopez is an amazing accomplishment.I never said that Lopez had no class, and it is a fact that Lopez said that he was a proud fighter and that he was not convinced that Sal could repeat the same feat in the rematch.Lopez was a classy fighter and had much much respect for Sal,so much so that he gave him his Native American Chiefs cap feathers.

  • wow

  • @josemezatorrez Salvador Sanchez was 21 years old when he beat Little Red, who indeed lost the rematch by TKO in Rd. 14. But Danny never said anything about "beginner's luck" in regards to their first bout. He had too much class for that kind of nonsense. You've obviously been reading too much Wikipedia, which isn't a reliable source. Salvador was my favorite fighter but being a Southern Californian, I was also a fan of Lopez, who was a total gentleman, in and out of the ring.

  • Sanchez was so great that as a 19 year old kid they put him in the ring against future Hall of Fame Champion Danny"Little red"Lopez who at the beginning of his career had a 23 fight K.O streak.Salvador gave a nice whupping to the more experience fighter Danny Lopez and he became the new Featherweight Champion.Little Red said it was beginners luck and he demanded a rematch and received a second whupping and got KO once again.May you rest in peace Campeon del mundo.
