From his 1976 album "Biting The Apple"

Dexter Keith Gordon (born Los Angeles,California, February 27, 1923 April 25, 1990) was an American jazz tenor saxophonist and actor. Dexter Gordon is considered to be the first musician to translate the language of Bebop to the tenor saxophone.

"Blue Bossa" is an instrumental jazz composition by Kenny Dorham. It was introduced on Joe Henderson's 1963 album Page One. A blend of hard bop and bossa nova, the tune was possibly influenced by Dorham's visit to the Rio de Janeiro Jazz Festival in 1961. The tune has since been recorded numerous times by different artists, making it a jazz standard.

  • Is'nt it good to be able to think and sort out challenges you may be facing.I can't think with what the radio is feeding.

  • @zootMKVI I think Dukoff is much too bright for a Dexter sound, maybe a Dukoff Hollywood would come closer...

  • @bob22222222222222100 Brecker has just a different and personal way of playing this song, and that's what he did in 1985. As Joe Lovano mentionned in his tutorial video, dont let the song play you, play the song. I think both Dexter and Michael versions are very interesting.

Maybe Youtube etc. will help folks turn on to it. I've had lots of conversations on here and quite a few have got my point, thanked me later! Onward! :) !
