Guys! i had a lingual frenectomy done around 2 weeks ago. And It doesn't hurt anymore. I can't help but notice that it seems my tongue is still pretty tight and when I stick it out, it's rather the same as before I got the surgery or even shorter. I know this surgery is suppose to make your tongue longer and more flexible, but it's doing the opposite. I'm also trying to get more info about frenectomies online but no help. :/
What is the recovery time? Is this a normal result after surgery?

How much does something like this cost?

@pittielove it's really not painful with minimal anesthetic! The laser make the process minimally invasive, less tissue is cut than with a traditional scalpel. Clean and precise.

@Conchobhar. That's a long recovery time. I'd like to know if the surgeon actually used a laser and if so, what type.
I am planning on getting my tongue slip with an argon laser, i have a normal length tongue, but if i also pay to get a frenectomy, do you think it will noticeably lengthen it any? thanks!

@revoltkid123 I'm not sure what you mean by having your tongue "slip". Maybe you can explain more, but another thing that catches my attention is that it will be done with an Argon laser. This type of laser is no longer made, but many are still in service. While an excellent laser to stop bleeding, I'm not too keen on using it as a surgical laser.

@DrHaddix sorry, that was a typo. i meant to type "split" not slip. also known as forking.

@revoltkid123 OK, that's what I thought. I assume you are into body modification. I cannot emphasize strongly enough that this procedure only be performed by a surgeon; the chances of severe bleeding and/or nerve damage are high. That being said, I can't tell if a frenectomy will add extra length, there is a limit as to how far the frenum can be reduced. Only direct examination can answer your question, so I'd take it up with your surgeon.
