Singing groups from all over the state uploaded videos of their best performances to SpectrumBoston.org and the community voted for their favorites. Seven of the highest scoring groups duked it out in an acapella sing-off for a panel of judges at the Wang Theatre on Wednesday, May 6th in hopes of earning the privilege of performing on the Grand Lobby staircase prior to the June 17th performance of The Color Purple at the Wang Theatre. Groups from all over Massachusetts performed in front of local judges: Robin Hamilton, Video Journalist and Television Host; Chip Rives, Executive Director of the Boston Music Awards; Katani Sumner, vocalist and new host of the upcoming Sunday Gospel Brunch at the new House of Blues; and Karen Holmes Ward, host of Channel 5s CityLine program.
Thank you to all the groups who participated in the Community Choir competition! SpectrumBoston is proud to name the four finalists: * Third Runner-Up: Liberty Belle Chorus based in Arlington, MA * Second Runner-Up: The Treblemakers from Tantasqua Regional High School in Fiskdale, MA * First Runner-Up: Mosaic from Boston * GRAND PRIZE WINNER: Thando4Thanda from the Boston area
