The 9 yard saree verses the 5 yard saree worn by women in rural India. Simple generational changes in health as a result of education.
I met an herbalist/pediatrician on my trip to India. She was a great host.

  • Though it depends on which part of India u belong to, Men wear either Dhoti or Lungi, In northern India Dhoti is worn more often, Lungi is worn is southern India however in Tamil language Lungi is also called Dhoti!! But actually they are different because of the style they are wrapped around(worn).

  • they also have the rural indian pose....hands to the side, , ..expressionless face

  • Some men wear a langi. My husband likes to wear his dhoti like a langi sometimes.

  • The wrap around the waist of a man is called a dhoti or veshti depending on where you are in India and the color/pattern (In most places in South India, dhothi is the plain white wrap with a border, where as veshti is a full colored wrap with plaid designs usually)

  • I like the newer Sari the one with the purple sari, its soo pretty. Do men wear a ceartin type of sari?
