Free To Be... You And Me - Part 3 of 17

Free To Be... You And Me- a children's film from 1974. Roberta Flack and a teenage Michael Jackson sing "When We Grow Up." Very sweet. This was my favorite school film from my childhood. Seeing it...

We used to watch this every year in elementary school on an old film projector. I loved it so much. Those were the best years of my life!

Michael has always been black. It's his culture. The vitiligo was a skin condition that only changes the color. He only changed his nose like many others have done. He didn't mean to offend anyone by it. I read somewhere that he fell and broke his nose and had to have two surgeries so he could breathe. The nose job was because he was being picked on by his father. Also, some fans told him during his teen years that they liked him more when he was younger which hurt him bad. He was always cute.

This is the first thing I ever saw MJ in. I watched this all the time when I was a baby.

I wish Michael could have taken this advice.
I know he couldn't help his vitiligo, but aside from that, I agree with the song, "he [didn't] need to change at all".

Sometimes I miss being younger, too, but then realize just how many people's lives get cut short and now I am grateful for every birthday I get. Just remember, you witnessed Michael Jackson in his prime (which basically was his whole life!). There are many "youngsters" who cannot lay claim to that and probably wish they could. Take care!

It kinda makes me mad that they didn't just put this version on the album, too. I'm feeling a little gypped! LOL. I mean, Diana Ross' version is very pretty but this is just so charming and sweet. Didn't even know he took part in this until a while ago when I saw these posted here...

I think that is Roberta (the lady) talking at the end.
