It's not quite as handy as a standard stock to work the safety, but if I'm hunting an intruder , it won't be on anyway.

@ridgebuggy Never handled one of those, but I use a Remington 870 as my tactical shotgun, and it also has the safety on the trigger guard.

I like it because you can just tap it with your trigger finger, it works with any type of grip, it can't snag or switch on clothing, and they don't break off like I've heard the Mossberg ones sometimes do.

@SynchronizorVideos yes the maverick 88 is a better option the safety is on the trigger guard.

Does that pistol-grip stock make it difficult to work the top-mounted safety those Mossbergs have? I've heard the two don't play well together.

Mossberg 500 is a great gun but i am glad i have my Mossberg 590a1 and Remington 870 police magnum
