  • Isn't this report coming from a religious channel? It is quite biased.

  • I doubt if Ben Wattengerg is "religious" in the sense you are using the term. ("Religious television")

I also doubt that there is such a thng as an "unbiased" report. Everything everyone thinks and does is filtered through a socially constructed self, a language, culture, social group membership and is "religious" in that we all have a set of "sacred" presuppositions through which we make sense of the world. It's not a good or a bad thing, it's just how it is.

  • this isnt true in most western countries beacause all the baby boomers are going to die and hardly any western family will have loads of kids

  • Hmmm... This is exactly what Wattenberg is saying.

  • @SPAnsw Yes, any moral person would scream Hitler when they see people begin to act like him. No appologies here. The problem is not that we have too many people, its that we have an inequality of resource and wealth. Your county and mine are both in the very rich bracket. Multicorps, big buisness and banks have this current system over a barrel. God will one day fix it when he comes back. Until then do what you can and be patient. Killing unborn or sterilising is not a solution.

  • @Enochsawit There's always someone who'll scream "Hitler" and "eugenics" and miss the whole point. If we don't restrain our own growth using simple family planning then we will end up with "God's solutions": famines, climate change, and all manner of pain.

  • @SPAnsw Perhaps you would sterilise the weak and poor amongst us? Perhaps you would encourage or force women to abort their unborn? Perhaps you would strategise 'controlled' famines or wars to reduce the surplus population? Hitlerism seems to have flurished with morally bankrupt globalists playing at and doing a very poor job as 'God.' Your solution, like Adolf's will prove evil. When men 'solve' the worlds problems we have Stalins, Maus, Hitlers, Napoleons, Khans etc. Only God can fix man.

  • He is an IDIOT. If a couple has two babies only according to him the population will level off. This can only happen when the children become parents the grandparents die immediately. If a couple marries at the age of 20 and have two kids at 25, and suppose their kids marry at 20 ( when parents are 45) and have kids at 25 ( now parents are 50) the total number will be 6 and if parents happen to live past 75 it will triple.

  • instead of discussing depopulation let us think of conquering and inhabiting other planets and expand the human race. Take over the universe. HAHAHA, GALACTIC DOMINATION, ... just make sure to make me the emperor of Humania.

  • Just because population is growing at a slower pace doesn't mean it's a non-issue. The issue still needs to monitored and people still need to have ready access to family planning and education.

  • This cute report glibly assumes our record population today is no problem at all. Yet a long, long list of environmental, social and economic problems all around the globe says that it is, and it's not going to solve itself.

  • It doesn't take into account the extra mothers... So it's false. Too bad, could have been a good report...

  • This video leaves out the fact that science and technology make it much easier for we humans to live longer and safer than in years past. Because of this, even if the fertility rate drops, the population of humans can still increase.

  • One quibble and one major problem. The quibble is that the narrator keeps saying "birth rate" when he means "fertility rate." The major problem is that doesn't discuss the role of very young populations in Africa and parts of Asia that is driving population growth as much or more than high fertility.
