Satriani is the most theoretically complex, vai is the master of techniques and yngwie is the fastest. That isnt to say they dont 'only' have these, but those are their defining characteristics, imo

As someone who has met Mark Knopfler on several occasions and has the priveledge to hold a few lengthy conversations with him...he would be the last to agree with you on such a statement. He does hold players such as Vai and Satriani, among the rest with high regarded and finds their work to be very expressive. He is very humble and would never say that the music they make is void of expression or feeling. So if Mark likes them, why can't you?

Since people are talking about Knopfler...I think Mark with G3 would be absolutely epic since he brings a whole new style to the table, moreso than anyone thus far has. Satch needs to throw the man an invite on the next tour.

@kowy88 Because you prefer the music of Dire Straits guitarist doesn't mean that they can't express feelings as well. I could also say that none can express feelings like my parrot but that would also be nothing about this damn video of pure publicness ;) Beside, why would anyone comment in such a malicious manner just to prove how none of the above mentioned guitarist "can't express emotions like that and that guy".
