On this anniversary of the big Atlanta Train Show weekend, I cut together some video I shot in August 2002. It was my first visit to Austell, GA. Located on the Norfolk Southern North Atlanta Mainline, Austell is one of the best railfan locations I've ever seen.
I also took a guided tour with Woody, from Dallas, GA. Known as The REAL Train Chaser. One of the most fun railfanning excusions ever! Thanks Woody!!
Had a couple of fact errors in the script. Fixed with on screen corrections

  • can you tell me where woody's secret spot is please

  • @TheCarandTrainman Now, if I did that, it wouldn't be a secret anymore. :-))

Nope. When we were at McPherson Siding, Woody made me promise.

  • Another excellent video worth waiting for! Your work is absolute the best work by anyone on YouTube!, keep them coming, Danny!

  • @ollieahokas Thanks Ollie. Much appreciated. DH

  • Excellent video! I never knew Austell had a gazebo. I swear Georgia loves their railfan spots. This is the 3rd dedicated spot I've seen there with Folkston and Jesup having the other two. I hope Austell gets to rebuild this someday because they deserve it.

  • @murjax I hope that Austell can put up another railfan viewing platform someday. Maybe down the hill south of the Junction.

  • Do all of the trains that go through Austell go through Woddy's "secret spot"?

  • Is the secret spot north or south of austell?

  • Fantastic!! Alot of locomotive power and trains has changed in the last 10 years!

  • @DJGENEX71 Actually I think its more like 99.9% of your vids are from Austell, LOL!

  • Mr. Harmon send me a private message because I may have found out where woody's secret be located. Im not gonna say it here though.

  • @distantsignal I know where it is too as I used to work on that line and went to get a train on the law there a couple times. And I know Woody so I couldn't let out the secret in good faith. But I will tell you it is between Atlanta and Rome, GA.

  • on what line and at what milepost did you spott the burlington northern santa fe train

  • That was so interesting. Growing up in Smyrna and passing by that Austell line so many times, it was neat to see some more information. I'll look for more videos.
