Roosevelt Wardell was a blues/R&B/jazz pianist. He was in his teens when he made his first recordings for Melford in 1949 and 1950. He recorded blues for DeLuxe, Atlantic & Rockin' from 1951-53. Wardell played on some 1952 recordings by Earl Hooker and the same year he was drafted by Houston saxist Ed Wiley as a recording and performing member of his group. Wardell recorded a jazz album for Riverside in 1960. Please note that this title is not on the album pictured in the clip.
