In the years following World War II, life in Bedfordshire changed beyond recognition. Growing prosperity, rapid urbanisation and immigration affected both the appearance of the county and the way that people lived.
The town hasn't been killed dead since closing the high street to traffic. How many shops do you see empty in Leighton?? Take a small trip to Dunstable (Hell hole and dump) to see what is dead. Leighton is a great place with a strong community, wouldnt want to live anywhere else.
This is a great clip! I've lived in LB since 1966 and miss the old way of things. Many of the individual shops and walk ways have now gone and the town is fast becoming a concrete jungle. The best is lost...let's hope the powers that be don't spoil what little is left.
