Spear Hunting Hogs

This hunt took place at Out West Farms in Lake Okeechobee on June 16, 2009. We hunted with dogs and spears. The hunt started early as we all loaded up in the swamp buggy I don't know who was more excited me or the dogs. Within minutes of arriving in the marsh area the dogs started going ballistic. As soon as we let them out of the box they had a hog bayed up in the cattails. I grabbed the spear and ran into the thicket following the sound of the dogs and sequel of the hog. This was a great hunt and have done one more since then with another outfitter. He you love hunting hogs this is a great change of pace from spot and stalk or sitting in the tree stand.

I'm all for eradicating invasive species like the feral pigs but the huting outfitter that set up this hunt is unethical in some ways. First they facilitate gator hunts. Second, they do some hunts in a ranch. They let people sit in a stand above a feeder and shoot a fenced in animal that comes around to eat. How is that even a hunting experience. I could place some bud light and nascar merch under a tree, sit in the tree with my blackhawk 44 mag and wait for a redneck to come. Not a challenge.

@MrItzrussian yea i've been thinking of getting into bow hunting, first time i was interested in it was a few years ago i went to a summer camp for a bit and they had archery, was so fun but never really got back into it, glad you're more humane with how u do it :)

@NymphadoraBeeWolf You aren't the only one, i Always feel disheartened for the animal when it gets killed, but it provides food for my family, i hunt with a recurve bow to give the animal more of a chance, and make it more of a challenge. It makes it funner and you appreciate the animal a lot more!

@DoctorBlissphd im not saying its bad i just find it odd how the sounds coming from the animal didn't phase them. its not like i'm calling him a "dumbass redneck" like other people here i'm just saying it's sad that they didn't kill it quicker rather than putting it through pain.

Maybe you should listen to yourself and consider a different lifestyle. The animals you eat are dead. They gpot dead somehow. This is pretty humane compared to how some animals are treated.

So, by your logic, people should only live into their 30's or 40's, die frequently during childbirth, forgo vaccines, walk or ride an animal everywhere, die of diseases that we can cure, forgo most surgery and, if surgery is performed, forgo anesthesia, have a blacksmith due dental work, allow rape and slavery and never use a computer. That's what people have been doing for thousands of years. This hunting ranch allows pussies to hunt in a stand with a feeder.
