@MsRaichuD Actually, the original settlers in Japan were very dark skinned. Anyone who knows anything about Japanese history knows that. So it would make sense that she, being as old as she is, is probably a passed on soul from one of the original Japanese settlers.

@DeShoXX I don't see why black people can't be Japanese as you say. What If my mom would be Japanese and my dad would be just black, then I would be a black Japanese person. It's all the same, however I still think she's black. Because of her skintone in the anime it's the only thing that makes sense.

@MsRaichuD The majority of South East Asians are dark skinned (myself included), not only that, but Indians are also Asian and they're pretty dark skinned too. Also, the author gave Yoruichi a Japanese name, if she was meant to be black, I'm pretty sure he would have given her an English name instead. No matter how you look at it, "Yoruichi Shihōin" is pretty Asian.

@DeShoXX You mean like Indonesians and stuff, they are light skinned. But Yoruichi is dark-skinned (not really tanned/black) in the anime, so I believe that she is supposed to.

@MsRaichuD Apparently you've never seen South East Asians then. I'm Asian and I have relatives whose skin are as dark or brown as my black friends. So your point proves nothing. Not only that but her given and family name, "Yoruichi Shihōin," is Japanese and not something else.
