@mmamidget one must remember that i said its one of the greatest palaces, not the greatest, even though i forgot to mention the palaces in asia, heian period, and the forbidden city, but hose were stars of their own and if design was a comparison, European palaces would have far outdone their more conservative counterparts in Asia, they were more lavish and grandiose, and it was well known that Asins considered them just Gaudy residences with bad taste. so one cannot compare

@mmamidget omg, i hve forgotten to mention the Holy and Forbidden Capital, a city thats also a palace, and was the home of the emperor and and thousands of women concubines that never even saw him, ahhhh, China has always been the center of magnifience, and no one can really put it as a rival to any palace, its a star of its own.

@RickisMoney Perhaps you have never seen the Forbidden City in Peking.

@thestarkindler true, very much right, these are the palaces which have sewer systems and water use all down, while Versailles failed in those areas, its a bit sad though that English baroque and rococo styled buildings aren't given the credit of being what they are masterpieces with nothing half finished, or forgotten.

The Kremlin is completely irrelevant in this case - it was built long before Versailles. Not that I disagree that the Russian Baroque-era palaces challenge Versailles in beauty. They certainly do, the Petergoff palace and fountain complex especially. It may have been modeled on Versailles, but it improves on a lot of engineering problems with Versailles, not to mention that it is aesthetically innovative in its own right.
One of the greatest palaces on earth, which can only be challenged by the Russian Imperial palaces and the Vatican palaces in Rome.

Yes, but the russian palaces had Versailles as a model, as a pattern... Catherine the great who built some of them was living in the XVIII th century... Versailles was still built for 100 years !!!
