@VengefulRonin I agree that this is an extremely long conversation to be reading, but this is pretty much how the game industry works. Look at how many PC games were on the shelves ten years ago versus now. The amount of (non-independent) games that we get to chose from is shrinking as creative people lose their decision-making power. Business school hacks like this suit are running the money show, and marketing figures are their bibles.
"Casual" games sell, easy to make, and make a LOT of money. Know what they use that money for? That's right, making bigger titles (AKA the "developer's vision" type games) that won't sell as much. In fact, most "hardcore gamers" are pirate games. And they only pirate the GOOD games. Therefore, it's just not profitable to make "hardcore" games anymore. It's a wonder they even come out at all. If the game publishers didn't care, they would ONLY come out with "casual" games.
