if i build it to a live cd i can take it to my friends house and put it in his computer and it wont screw anything up rite

i made mine and burned the .iso image to CD and i switched of my laptop and started it from the cd and i was wondering would it install and wipe out my current hard drive and my Operating system, if that makes sense
