The "her" that Khan refers to is Lt. Marla McGivers, a member of Kirk's crew who was an historian that specialized in the 20th century. She falls in love with Khan, who manipulates her into helping him take over the Enterprise. She feels guilt over her actions, and helps Kirk regain control of his ship and defeat Khan. When Kirk exiles Khan, Lt. McGivers elects to go into exile with him instead of face a courtmartial. She becomes Khan's wife, but dies on Seti Alpha 5 from the deadly ear-bug.
