I do think the tone of the 3rd series has changed much more graphic violence...wonder if it is due to commercial pressure. When SN started it showed here at 7.30pm, now it's slotted at 10.30pm(to great chagrin of my son who cannot stay up that late!)

It definately has, not only with the graphic violence but also just the whole attitiude of the boys. Especially Sam, he's cold. And when Sam isnt there to wheel Dean it anymore, the violence just takes over.

Well, I don't know any class rock songs they haven't used, but I got some other good rock songs I'd like to see used on the show.

Like "This Night" (used in the season 6 promo for THE SHIELD)

Or "Pioneer to the Falls (used in season 7 of SMALLVILLE)

Dude, if you could make a SUPERNATURAL video using Pioneer to the Falls, I would be forever greatful 'cause NOBODY on YouTube has done it yet and I can't make videos on my computer.
