This August WUSC Local Committee members staged what has been termed a "Flashlight Mob" to raise awareness and funds for the WUSC Shine a Light campaign www.shinealight.ca
Students were blown away by the impact that staging a spontaneous event could have in just 10 minutes in Ottawas busy ByWard Market during the Leadership Meeting weekend.
The Flashlight Mob:
For 10 minutes in the evening, dozens of students sat in a busy walkway reading books by flashlight. The scattered pods of light created a surreal and intriguing distraction for walkers-by, causing many to stop and ask What is this all about?
Shine a Light cards were then passed out by Local Committee members standing just beyond the ones sitting and reading. They also spoke to passers-by about the campaign and answered questions
