Yeah I guess maybe it's just like many of the other spyderco models, it may not make too much sense at the beginning, but once you own one it will never be the same. :)

Hahaha.. but do you know Bob Lum's thought process? I am a huge Lum fan.. I didn't like this at first like you mentioned due to the lack of jimping and purpose... but it's just a great collector.

I've carried this knife around quite a bit and it makes a great EDC light duty knife.  The handle is quite functional IMO. The knife is actually very closely patterned to a traditional Chinese folding knife.... google 'Shilin Cutter' or 'Shilin folding knife'.

I still don't know what the specific purpose of this knife is though,... It has such a strange shape and not much jimping is on it(unlike most of the spydercos) I don't understand it, and I'm Chinese!
